Engineering Geology is a very important subject of Civil Engineering as it deals with the behaviour of rocks below the surface of the earth. Geological factors below the ground may affect the design, construction, operation and site selection of any project work especially for dams. Geologist may provide suggestions regarding earthquake analysis for buildings, bridges, dams etc.

Environmental Engineering Laboratory

This laboratory course aims at making the students familiarize with the essential Environmental Engineering equipment’s and experimental methodology that are used to obtain the different characteristics of water and wastewater such as pH, Turbidity, Conductivity, Dissolved Oxygen (DO), Total Dissolved Solids (TDS; Organic and Inorganic), Alkalinity/Acidity, Chloride, Chlorine demand, Iron, Nitrates Nitrogen,Total Phosphorus, Optimum dose of Coagulant, Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD), Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) etc.

Surveying Lab

Surveying is the process by which a surveyor measures certain dimensions that generally occur on the surface of the Earth. To familiarize and make the students to obtain the knowledge of surveying equipment and measurement techniques with emphasis on levelling and traversing using chain, tape, theodolite , total satations, levelling instruments and compass survey.

Geotechnical Engineering Laboratory

This Laboratory is designed to obtain the basic knowledge about the soil under loading and unloading conditions occurred during the construction of structure at site. This laboratory helps the students to understand the basic and engineering properties of soils such as Specific gravity, Atterberg’s limit, Compaction, Consolidation, Permeability and Shear strength of soils.

Transportation Engineering Laboratory

This Laboratory is designed to obtain the basic knowledge about the civil engineering materials bitumen, coarse and fine aggregates and their performance during the construction. The important engineering properties such as specific gravity, compressive strength, water absorption, slump and compaction factor type, non-destructive strength of concrete, penetration value, softening, ductility, flash and fire point of bituminous samples.

Fluid Mechanics & Hydraulic Machinery Laboratory

The purpose of Fluid Mechanics and Hydraulic Machinery laboratory is to understand the fundamentals of Fluid mechanics and Hydraulic machines. Understanding the laws and concepts which guide the behaviour of a fluid is very important for the engineering students. This laboratory provides students with an introduction to principal concepts and methods of fluid mechanics. Students will work to formulate the models necessary to study, analyse, and design fluid systems through the application of these concepts. The other important part of the lab is learning about hydraulic machines where students will practically see the importance of hydraulic machinery.

Hydrology & Water Resource Engineering Lab

The water resources laboratory is designed to enable experiments to be carried out as part of the Undergraduate courses taught in the department of civil engineering related to engineering hydrology and water resources engineering. Lab is used to study occurrence movement and distribution of water that is a prime resource for development of a civilization , to know diverse methods of collecting the hydrological information, which is essential, to understand surface and ground water hydrology and to know the basic principles and movement of ground water and properties of groundwater flow. To support these various activities, the laboratory has one Rain Gauge, one double ring Infiltrometer, Evaporimeter and Sunshine recorder. The associated and accessory equipment and instrumentation enables a variety of experiments to be performed and measurements to be obtained, ranging from the experiments of infiltration measurement to rainfall recording.

Strength of Materials Laboratory

This laboratory course aims at making the students familiarize with Engineering Mechanics and Experimental methodology that are used to obtain the Mechanical properties engineering properties such as like modulus of rigidity &stiffness.

CAD LAB

AutoCAD is a 2-D and 3-D computer-aided drafting software application used in architecture, construction, and manufacturing to assist in the preparation of blueprints and other engineering plans. It is useful in building, planning, designing, and drawing the elements and components of the buildings. These drawing files are also used to estimate the cost of any building may be residential, commercial, industrial, institutional or any other.

Structure Lab

The objective of structural analysis laboratory is to determine the forces, stresses, deflections and behavior of various structural members like beams, columns, arches, trusses and frames when subjected to different types of loadings. This laboratory course will help the students to understand the theoretical concepts learned in the courses solid mechanics and structural analysis I & II.

Building Construction lab
