Electrical & Electronics Engineering Laboratory
The department houses laboratory facilities to enrich the students with the basic and advanced laboratory understandings in Electrical & Electronics Engineering as well as in allied fields. The labs are well equipped with modern instruments, so that the students can understand the practical aspects of the subjects studied by them.
The laboratory is established to impart the basic knowledge of various fundamentals of Electrical Engineering. The experiments are so designed to serve the usage to all branches of Diploma and Under Graduate students. The experiments are conducted on wide ranges of instruments. The experiments includes all the basics and essentials of the subject, this involves knowledge to solve AC & DC circuits, formulation and analysis of the circuits, understanding principles of electromagnetism to implement them in electrical rotating machines & transformers, identification of various electrical machines according to their applications, to apply ethical principles to troubleshoot and to safely install devices as per the norms of engineering practices.
Electrical Machines Laboratory of the department is well equipped with different type of DC and AC Machines and Transformers. The objective of Electrical Machines Laboratory is to impart deep understanding of all types of DC Machines, AC Machines (such as Induction and Synchronous Motors, Transformers, All types of DC Generator & DC Motor with control panel and Alternators). The experiments performed to the students are designed such as to make them understand about the theory and working of all these machines. The laboratory is also used for research activities in area of machines and to carry out the project work assigned by faculty from time to time.
The power electronics lab gives broad idea of power electronics circuits and their application. In this lab students get practical exposure to circuit design. Lab includes various kits for students to work in this area on converters, inverters, AC voltage controllers, Choppers, and its various applications. The laboratory course provides instruction in general lab practices, measurement methods, and with the design and operation of several common circuits relevant to the field of power electronics. It also provides experience with common components such as motors, batteries, magnetic devices, and power semiconductors.
The aim of the Control Systems laboratory is to provide sound knowledge in the basic concepts of linear control theory and design of control systems, to understand the methods of representation of systems and getting their transfer function models. It facilitates basic knowledge in obtaining the open loop and closed loop responses to understand the concept of stability of control systems. It also helps the students to study the compensation design for a system.
This laboratory is designed to give students hands-on experience on different equipment of various protection schemes in electrical power system. This laboratory facilitates the students to understand the basic concepts and recent trends in power system protection. The students can design and work with the concepts of digital and numerical relaying. The students would be skilled enough to work with various type of relaying schemes used for different apparatus protection in the laboratory.
The Electrical Circuits Laboratory assists the students to impart with essential knowledge of electrical and electronic circuit design and analysis and provide hands on experience to design different electrical and electronic circuits with bread boards and with different active and passive components. This Lab gives the practical learning and use of various instruments like Multi-meter, Oscilloscopes, Function Generators, Wattmeter’s etc. Along with this, they do practical verification of various electrical theorems.
This Laboratory is equipped with essential instruments which are able to give the understanding of basic principles of measurement systems. Students can understand the measurement of displacement with the help of potentiometer and the output waveform can be viewed by Cathode Ray Oscilloscope. Laboratory is also equipped with digital and analog instruments by which students can understand how digital instruments are more précised and accurate compare to their analog counterpart. Various Instruments such as CRO, Function Generator etc. are kept open to visualize the working and signal flow path for measurements of electrical signaling. Various electrical bridges are there for understanding how the variation of capacitance, inductances and resistances are able to make the bridge in balance condition and measurements of electrical quantities are performed.
Electrical workshop provides a platform for all kind of practical jobs like domestic wiring, fittings, drilling job, switchboard assembly, coil winding, repair and maintenance work of various electrical appliances. It is designed especially for the certificate and diploma students. It has its optimum utilization for the assembly work, component testing and troubleshooting of devices and circuitries in students’ projects. This laboratory is equipped with automatic coil winding machine, insulation testers, earth testers, single phase & three phase transformers as well as loads to carry out any experimental/demonstration work.
For understanding of power systems, one needs to understand all aspects of power systems like generation, transmission, distribution and protection. The lab is designed to teach students the functioning of Power Systems and its behavior in various conditions. This lab is equipped with advanced trainer kits.
